The Legislative Decree No. 36 dated 16/8/2001 was issued concerning the organization of private educational institutions special for the post-secondary stage study.
In view of the increase in the number of students in this period who wish to obtain distinguished levels of education from international universities adopting the latest curricula and methods of education in the world, and to alleviate the suffering of travel and the high costs of tuition fees for the citizens of the homeland, inhabitants of Wadi Al Nadara met together after the issuance of the Legislative Decree No. 36 and the idea of establishing Al Wadi Private International University in Homs Governorate in Al Wadi area came into being.
As a reflection of the idea of establishing a university, Al-Wadi Company educational institutions was established for educational and (a joint stock company).
The first financing for the project was provided by the region's and expatriate residents. The company includes more than 140 members of the valley's families.
Al-Wadi Company for educational institutions obtained the first private university license in the central region under the name the Syrian/German Private Wadi University in the Wadi Al-Nadara area and was later renamed Wadi International Private University.
The objective is to establish a creative model of universities covering many fields of knowledge and services of the homeland and the citizen.
Many international programs of universities and institutes of higher education, especially in France, the United States and Germany, have been examined and the conviction has been firmly established in the German program, which achieves the goals set with great care and attention.
Several agreements were signed with German universities, the first of which was held on 24 April 2005 at the Ministry of Higher Education, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hani Murtada, Minister of Higher Education in the building of the Ministry of Higher Education, signed the agreement Prof. Dr. Klaus Erik Pullman, President of the German University and the Architect Yousef Abdulky, Executive Director of the University Project, attended by Dr. Ibrahim Haddad, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, German Ambassador and Dr. Najeeb Abdul Wahed, the minister assistant for academic researches, as well as a lot of interested officials in the ministry, the German expedition and representatives of the ministry of expatriates and Wadi Company for Educational Establishments .
It was followed by a series of similar agreements between WIU and the German University Otto-Von-Guericke University of Magdeburg and other German universities such as the University of Kottbus, and agreements with scientific Bodies and institutions such as DAAD and the German-Syrian Society for Science and Technology in Germany.
The University also signed an agreement with the Canadian Institute "English Canada) to teach English to our university students after the adoption of English as a language of instruction.
Al-Wadi Company shall insure all that is required from it to the University as well as the meetings of its bodies and councils are held in accordance with the governing laws and regulations.
