Board meetings

To achieve the university’s goals, the council assumes the following responsibilities and powers and has the powers of decision and oversight in it

Determine the university’s goals, draw up its general policy, set the necessary plans for its development and supervise its achievement

Laying down the university’s internal system, employment system, financial system, and other regulations in preparation for approval by the Ministry of Higher Education

Approving regulations and instructions to organize and administer the university’s work and control its affairs

Approving the annual plan presented by the University Council for the university’s development projects

Approving of the allocations required for the university’s various facilities, including construction, supplies, salary, wages, compensation and bonuses

Approving the annual report, the general budget and final accounts of the university

A proposal to appoint the university president to the Ministry of Higher Education. The president of the council issues the appointment decision after the approval of the ministry

Nominating the vice-presidents of the university upon a proposal from the university president

Nominating the director of administration (the university secretary) on the proposal of the university president

Granting an honorary doctorate based on the proposal of the University Council according to approved principles

Deciding on the number of students admitted annually, determining the tuition fees, university housing wages, how they are paid, the conditions for exemption from them, rewards, financial and non-financial aid, full and partial scholarships, the cost of health insurance, etc.

The council may form permanent or temporary committees from among its members and define their tasks and compensation for them

Approving the cooperation and partnership agreements with universities, institutions and other bodies inside and outside the Syrian Arab Republic submitted on a proposal from the University Council
